Our Purpose
The purpose of the Nursing Home Ministry is to be an extension of Jesus to residents in a care facility due to aging, health conditions or rehabilitation. We have an hour-long service on the first Saturday of each month. We currently minister at Normandy Center for Nursing & Healing (f/k/a Heartland) on Jacksonville’s westside at 10:30am in the activity room. The service consists of praise and worship music, Bible readings, short sermons and testimonies from ministry team members. The sinner’s prayer is recited at each service offering the opportunity for residents who want to be saved to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. We then offer Holy communion and individual prayer.
Cards and gifts are given on special occasions, and we assure the residents. Pastors Steve & Willene Dobbs and the church are praying for them.
Requirements for the nursing home ministry include: 1) to be saved; 2) to be faithful tithers; 3) to stand behind and support the vision of our Pastor; 4) to be a member of PRC; 5) to attend meetings called by the team leader; 6) to notify the team leader if you cannot attend a monthly service; and 7) to sign an annual Qualification & Duties Form. At a minimum you are required to visit a resident (or home bound individual) at least monthly.
